New uses for a bidet...

In yesterday's post, I told you that we don't use our bidet...at least not for its intended use. Here are the top four most common uses of the bidet in our house.

Handy-Dandy Bidet Function #1:
toothbrushing spit receptacle...

Handy-Dandy Bidet Function #2:

The Barbie (Sometimes Co-ed) Day Spa... Handy-Dandy Bidet Function #3:

Car/Truck One-Stop Wash...(no drying service available, though. All vehicles will be drip-dried as they are carried throughout the house.)

Handy-Dandy Bidet Function #4:
DVD cleansing station--for all your audio/visual cleanliness needs...

So there you have it.
If you're European, you probably cringed your way through my bidet photo essay. If you're American, you probably thought: Cool! My kids would love this.

Mine sure do.

Too funny!

(from an American now in Europe . . . I was cringing and laughing!)

ROFL!!

I knew what a bidet was. But I never imagined how useful one might be to a couple of Barbies.

Love it!

Too funny! We'd used ours to chill wine. V.

ROTF--that's awesome! I love the pics! I knew what it was, but not what it looks like. Love the dayspa!

Becca said...

rofl! yes, the dayspa was definitely the best. Natalie, my husband and I went to Italy for our tenth anniversary two years ago and absolutely loved it. I'm jealous that you're there for an extended stay :).

The Barbie spa was the best!!

I encountered one in Chile once and the friend I was with (Chilean) cracked up when I asked why there were two...sinks? Toilets? in the same small bathroom. I'm thinking they are way more useful for kids...

And here I was thinking how handy that would be for washing muddy dog paws (or entire small dogs if that is the kind you have).

Ha ha! That was funny, Natalie! Perfect height for kids' waterplay! =)

When I first visited France, aged eight, I was fascinated by the bidet in the hotel bathroom. Child-size sanitary ware, yippee! :)

I see I'm not alone in thinking the Barbies at the spa rocked. Hilarious! Is there a tiny massage table set up somewhere in your bathroom for afterwards??

Hi Debi--I'm glad you were able to laugh through the cringing. :-)

Authoress--A day spa is only the beginning in the bidet-Barbie world...it's also a slide, a ceramic mountain for climbing expeditions, and a storage unit for when the dripping wet Barbies are left behind at bedtime. The list goes on...

Ha, Vijaya! That's one I hadn't thought of...

Glad you liked the photos, Angela. The day spa is indeed a big hit at our house!

Thanks for stopping by, Becca! Maybe you and your husband can install a bidet in your bathroom...a little piece of bella Italia. ;-)

Ciao Rose! Do you not have a bidet in Germany? Your kids are missing out, you know. ;-)

Hey Cyn, we don't have any dogs, so no muddy paws. We do have a goldfish, though. Hmmmm...

It is fun for kids' water play, Edna...not so fun for mom when the water sloshes fromthe bidet all over the floor, though!

Hi Mary, that's the only drawback to letting our kids play with our bidet...when we go to hotels, they think it's okay to play with those, which people have...yanno...used. Oy.

Hi C.K. :-) Actually, just out of view is the Prince Charming version of the Ken doll (the one from that Barbie Swan Lake dvd) who's setting up the massage tables and mixing the avocado facial. He says the Barbie Bi-Day Spa is a lot of work, but he gets good tips. ;-)

Natalie, that sounds like so much fun! I want to come over and play Barbies right now!!

Natalie said...

Come on over, C.K.--we've got plenty o'Barbies with neglected cuticles that could use your help. :-)

I only cringed at the DVD...

my friend fills hers with dried flowers so no one will use it!

Heh-heh-heh. I'm not European, and that is EXACTLY what I would use a bidet for if we had one. Loved that Barbie spa!

In fact, my in-laws had a bidet, and I know that they seldom used it. I think my mother-in-law washed out her nylon stockings in it. Clearly the British are not European either. Or at least not in a bidet way...

OMG... ewww. LOL. How funny! The first time I ever stayed in a place with a bidet, I was sooo impressed! I'd finally made it to the big time! Sadly, my life has been bidet-less since.

I don't know what it is but getting your photos to upload is hit or miss with me. Unfortunately, the creative images of bidet use will have to live in my imagination. Boo.

Kia said...

Lol! I miss the usual bidet, I got surprised that there is no bidet in American homes :P

Natalie said...

Angela, what a great idea! Although with a 2-year-old at home, I can only imagine what would happen to the dried petals is I tried that!

Funny about the socks, Mary. :-) I've always thought the British are a bit different than other Europeans, and know I know why...

Susan, don't worry--you're not missing much. Your daughter's Barbies are, though.

Julie, I'm emailing you the Barbie photo now... :-)

Kia, I'm sure there's a lot that you're missing by living abroad! Where are you from originally?

LOL! I just stumbled upon your blog while searching for the Bimby Vorverk. You may ask why I'm googling a Bimby in Florida...my aunt had one this summer in Peschiera and I just love it:)and would love to find one here in the states!
I love this bidet post...I could see my 6 yr old doing the same thing w/her barbies if we had one!
